State Board of Education shall define "immunization records related absence" by July 1, 2019, concerning parental failure to submit a child's immunization records in violation of section 10-204a.

Immunization records related absences are excluded from the definition of "absence" used in calculating chronic absenteeism rates for schools and districts.

"Absence" is redefined to include only excused absences, unexcused absences, and disciplinary absences, explicitly excluding immunization records related absences.

Local and regional boards of education shall use the State Board's definitions for carrying out truancy reporting provisions and calculating district and school chronic absenteeism rates.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2018, and amends sections 10-198b and 10-198c of the general statutes.
