Authorizes authorized agencies (State Fire Marshal, local fire marshals, federal/state/local peace officers, and Insurance Commissioner) to request fire or explosion loss investigation information from insurance companies in writing.

Requires insurance companies to furnish relevant investigation materials to authorized agencies when they suspect a fire or explosion loss was caused by undetermined or incendiary means, and permits authorized agencies to inspect policy records with court order.

Provides liability protection for insurance companies, authorized agencies, and their representatives from civil or criminal liability for providing information under this section, except in cases of fraud, actual malice, or criminal conduct.

Mandates that authorized agencies keep received information confidential until required to release it in criminal or civil proceedings, but allows sharing of information between authorized agencies.

Applies to fire losses occurring on or after October 1, 1979, with amendments effective October 1, 2018.
