Individual health insurance policies must provide coverage for nonmedical mental health care services and substance abuse services provided by peer support specialists on an outpatient basis, effective January 1, 2020.

Group health insurance policies must provide coverage for nonmedical mental health care services and substance abuse services provided by peer support specialists on an outpatient basis, effective January 1, 2020.

Coverage requirements apply to policies providing coverage types specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes that are delivered, issued, amended, renewed or continued in Connecticut on or after January 1, 2020.

The Insurance Commissioner may adopt regulations in accordance with chapter 54 of the general statutes to implement the bill's provisions.
