Public Act No. 19-37 Summary

• Repeals the authority of the State Forest Fire Warden to summon residents ages 18-50 to assist in extinguishing fires, eliminating the $200 fine for refusal to assist.

• Authorizes the State Forest Fire Warden to temporarily supplement state forest fire control personnel with temporary emergency workers who meet National Incident Management System: Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide standards.

• Classifies temporary emergency workers and volunteer fire company members performing fire duties under the State Forest Fire Warden's direction as state employees eligible for workers' compensation benefits under chapter 568 for death, disability, or injury.

• Removes the requirement that patrol personnel appointed by the State Forest Fire Warden have authority to summon assistance, while retaining their authority to render bills for expenses.

• Removes section 23-37 from the list of violation statutes referenced in Connecticut's infraction procedure law (section 51-164n).
