Polls remain open for voting from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. for regular elections and special elections to fill vacancies in state, district, or municipal offices.

Election day registration locations designated under section 9-19j must remain open for registration and voting from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. for regular elections.

Applicants in line at 8:00 p.m. for either voting or election day registration are permitted to cast a vote; those not in line by 8:00 p.m. cannot enter the line.

An election official or police official must be placed at the end of the line at 8:00 p.m. to enforce the cutoff time for new applicants.

Election day registration applicants must appear in person by 8:00 p.m. and may use institution-issued photo ID, learner's permits, utility bills, or college fee statements as proof of residential address.
