Repeals and replaces Section 7-274 of the general statutes effective October 1, 2019, concerning boards of police commissioners.

Allows any town to establish a board of police commissioners by ordinance, with members to be either elected or appointed by the appropriate municipal governing body.

Board must consist of three, five, or seven resident taxpayers of the town who serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for actual expenses and disbursements from the town treasury.

Commissioners must be sworn to faithful performance of duties and serve the purpose of organizing and maintaining a police department.

Permits towns with police commissioners boards established by special act to adopt the provisions of that special act and any amendments by ordinance.
