Licensed or certified ambulance services may provide emergency transportation for state and local law enforcement K9s to emergency animal hospitals for treatment of injuries or illnesses incurred in the line of duty.

Ambulance services are granted liability protection and shall not be subject to civil damages or criminal prosecution for providing emergency transportation to law enforcement K9s.

The act becomes effective July 1, 2019.

The bill was referred to the Committee on Public Health and received a joint favorable recommendation.
