Department of Correction shall collaborate with the Department of Public Health, Insurance Department, and Comptroller to study hepatitis C virus prevalence among inmates in correctional institutions and facilities, effective October 1, 2019.

Study shall include screening of inmates for hepatitis C virus, feasibility of treating positive cases, health outcomes of infected inmates, costs and insurance coverage for treatment, and potential use of federal funding to cover treatment expenses.

Commissioner of Correction must report findings to the General Assembly no later than January 1, 2020, in accordance with general statutes section 11-4a.
