Individual health insurance policies must provide baseline mammograms (which may be breast tomosynthesis at the woman's option) for women ages 35-39, and annual mammograms for women age 40 and older, effective January 1, 2020.

Group health insurance policies must provide the same mammogram coverage as individual policies under the same age requirements and options.

Policies must cover comprehensive ultrasound screening of entire breast(s) if a mammogram shows heterogeneous or dense breast tissue, if a woman is at increased risk for breast cancer due to family history, prior personal history, positive genetic testing, or physician determination, or if recommended by a treating physician for women age 40 and older with relevant history.

Policies must cover magnetic resonance imaging of entire breast(s) in accordance with American Cancer Society guidelines.

Both sections 38a-503(b) and 38a-530(b) of Connecticut general statutes are amended and take effect January 1, 2020.
