Bill Summary: HB 07176

• Exempts accident-only insurance policies from requirements to provide coverage for preventive pediatric care and direct access to obstetrician-gynecologists, effective January 1, 2020.

• Removes subdivision (6) of section 38a-469 from the definition of "carrier" in both individual health insurance policies (section 38a-503b) and group health insurance policies (section 38a-530b).

• Modifies preventive pediatric care requirements in section 38a-535 to exclude accident-only policies from mandated coverage of preventive visits at specified age intervals (every two months birth to six months, every three months nine to eighteen months, and annually two through six years).

• Excludes accident-only policies from requirements to provide blood lead screening and risk assessments ordered by primary care providers.

• All amendments take effect January 1, 2020.
