Commissioner of Children and Families shall increase the maximum age for youth to voluntarily receive post-secondary education funding from the department from twenty-one to twenty-four years old.

Youth enrolled in post-secondary education programs and meeting department requirements become eligible for funding support to complete their education through age twenty-six, increased from age twenty-three.

Department of Children and Families shall serve as guardian for youth receiving post-secondary education funding services until age twenty-four, extended from age twenty-one.

Youth committed to the department at age eighteen or younger may remain in care by consent through age twenty-four if receiving post-secondary education funding program services.

Act takes effect July 1, 2019 and creates new section 1 while amending section 46b-129(j)(4) and (5) of the general statutes.
