No motor vehicle insurance policy delivered, issued, renewed, amended or endorsed in Connecticut on or after October 1, 2019, shall require repair shops to deviate from manufacturer collision repair guidelines, procedures, recommendations and service bulletins.

Repair shops cannot deviate from manufacturer guidelines without obtaining written authorization from the customer before performing the work.

Repair shops must provide customers with a written estimate of maximum costs for parts and labor before performing repairs and cannot charge for unauthorized work or parts.

Repair shops must obtain a written acknowledgment from customers stating they are aware of their right to choose the licensed repair shop where the vehicle will be repaired.

All requirements take effect October 1, 2019.
