Individual health insurance policies must provide coverage for motorized wheelchairs (including used motorized wheelchairs), repairs, and replacement batteries, effective January 1, 2020.

Group health insurance policies must provide the same coverage for motorized wheelchairs, repairs, and replacement batteries, effective January 1, 2020.

Requirements apply to all policies of the types specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes that are delivered, issued, renewed, amended or continued in Connecticut on or after January 1, 2020.

The Insurance and Real Estate Committee and Appropriations Committee both issued joint favorable recommendations.
