Commissioner of Public Health shall convene a working group by January 1, 2020 to advise on methods to enhance physician recruitment in Connecticut.

Working group shall examine recruiting, retaining and compensating primary care, psychiatric and behavioral health care providers; student loan forgiveness effectiveness; health care access; health insurance landscape effects; barriers to physician network participation; and graduate medical education assistance.

Membership includes representatives from Connecticut Hospital Association, Connecticut Medical Society, small and multisite group practices, at least three medical schools, regional physician recruiter association, hospital human resources, patient advocacy groups, and four general public members.

Working group shall elect chairpersons from among its members and report findings to the Commissioner by January 1, 2021.

Act takes effect July 1, 2019.
