Commissioner of Transportation may enter into a single contract with a private developer for the New Britain to Hartford busway project based on competitive proposals, with contract awards determined by qualifications, technical merit, and cost.

Any expansion of the New Britain to Hartford busway requires prior approval by the General Assembly through majority vote of each house, with a 30-day voting period when in session.

Commissioner must submit biannual reports beginning July 1, 2020 to the joint standing committee on transportation detailing passenger numbers, fare revenue per passenger, and operation and maintenance costs.

All streets in Hartford intersecting with the busway must remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for at least 20 hours per day while ensuring safe train passage at any time.

Advertising signs on property associated with the bus rapid transit corridor are permitted under the highway sign regulations, with no specific time limitations.
