SB 434 Summary

• Ticket resellers must refund purchasers the full amount including all fees if the event is cancelled, the ticket does not grant admission, the ticket fails to match its advertised description, or the reseller cannot provide the ticket.

• Ticket resellers must provide purchasers with their name, address, telephone number, or other contact information to allow purchasers to request refunds if necessary.

• Ticket resellers cannot use tentative ticket sale policies for tickets not in their possession unless they disclose this policy at the start of the transaction, including an approximate delivery date, number of tickets guaranteed, and zone/section/seat assignment.

• Violations of the cancellation/admission/description requirements, the contact information requirement, or the tentative ticket sale disclosure requirement are class B misdemeanors.

• The act becomes effective October 1, 2019.
