Physicians renewing licenses must complete 50 contact hours of continuing medical education within 24 months, including at least 2 hours on diagnosing and treating cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, delirium, related cognitive impairments, and geriatric depression, effective January 1, 2020.

Advanced practice registered nurses renewing licenses must complete 50 contact hours of continuing education within 24 months, including an optional 2 hours on diagnosing and treating cognitive or mental health conditions including Alzheimer's disease and dementia, effective January 1, 2020.

The Commission on Women, Children and Seniors shall convene a working group to review recommendations from a prior task force, identify implementation gaps, and develop best practices for Alzheimer's disease and dementia care.

The working group includes representatives from the Alzheimer's Association, Rehabilitation Services, AARP, State Ombudsman, family members of persons with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, persons diagnosed with these conditions, and healthcare professionals specializing in their treatment.

The working group must submit findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee on aging by January 30, 2020, and shall terminate by December 1, 2020.
