Persons engaged in skateboarding at municipally maintained skateboard parks assume the risk and legal responsibility for injuries to themselves or their property from skateboarding hazards, unless the injury was proximately caused by the municipality's failure to guard or warn against a dangerous condition, use, or structure.

Municipalities providing free public access to land for use as a dog park are immune from civil liability for injuries to persons or property at the dog park, unless the injury was proximately caused by the municipality's negligence in failing to guard or warn against a dangerous condition, use, structure, or activity.

Both provisions take effect on October 1, 2019.

The act aims to reduce municipalities' potential exposure to liability for injuries occurring in municipally maintained skateboard parks and dog parks.
