Commissioner of Children and Families must submit a report by February 1, 2020 to the joint standing committee on children regarding out-of-home placements during July 1, 2019 to January 1, 2020.

Report must include the number of children placed in out-of-home settings pursuant to sections 17a-114 or 17a-115a of the general statutes.

Report must include the number of children placed specifically in grandparent homes and the number of grandparent placement requests that were denied, including reasons for denial.

Report must detail how many times the Department of Children and Families contacted or attempted to contact grandparents prior to out-of-home placement to alert them of the need for placement or assess their suitability.

Act takes effect July 1, 2019.
