Employers are not required to accommodate employees performing duties while under the influence of cannabis or to allow possession, use, or consumption of cannabis-type substances during work.

Employers may implement written policies prohibiting cannabis possession, use, or consumption by employees, provided the policy is equally applicable to all employees and given to current employees before enactment and to prospective employees at the time of job offer.

Cannabis-type substance policies may not apply to exceptions specified in section 21a-408p of Connecticut general statutes.

The act becomes effective on July 1, 2019.
