Individual health insurance policies must cover at least one pair of prescription eyeglasses (including lenses and frames) per policy year for each covered dependent child younger than nineteen years of age, effective January 1, 2021.

Group health insurance policies provided through small employers must provide the same prescription eyeglasses coverage for dependent children younger than nineteen years of age, effective January 1, 2021.

Coverage includes one additional pair of prescription eyeglasses per policy year if the child's previously covered pair is lost during that same policy year.

Stepchildren must receive coverage on the same basis as biological children.

The requirement applies to individual and group health insurance policies of the types specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes that are delivered, issued, renewed, amended, or continued in Connecticut on or after January 1, 2021.
