Effective October 1, 2020, Probate Court employees are designated as state employees for purposes of chapter 68 (collective bargaining).

Probate Court employees gain the right to collectively bargain and obtain rights and obligations under sections 5-270 to 5-280 of the general statutes.

The Probate Court is defined as an employer for collective bargaining purposes, with the Probate Court Administrator or designated representative authorized to represent the court in negotiations.

Regional Children's Probate Court employees remain non-state employees except for collective bargaining purposes, while maintaining entitlement to Probate Court employee benefits.
