Repeals and replaces Section 7-107 of the general statutes to clarify that board of education vacancies are filled under Section 10-219 rather than the general vacancy procedure for other town boards and commissions.

Specifies that remaining members of a local board of education must select an individual to fill a vacancy until the next regular town election, where a successor will be elected for the unexpired portion of the term.

Requires the selected individual to take the oath of office within sixty days of selection; if they fail to do so and the next election is more than sixty days away, the vacancy remains open and the board must select another candidate.

Amendments become effective October 1, 2020.
