Office of Higher Education, in collaboration with Department of Public Health, shall administer a physician loan reimbursement grant program beginning July 1, 2020, within available appropriations.

Eligible physicians must be licensed in Connecticut or hold a current license in good standing in another state and be employed by a federally qualified health center providing primary care or behavioral health services.

Qualifying physicians receive grants of up to $5,000 per year for up to five years to reimburse federal or state educational loans, provided they continue meeting eligibility requirements.

Physicians apply to the Office of Higher Education according to procedures prescribed by the executive director.

Unexpended funds do not lapse at fiscal year end but carry forward to the next fiscal year.
