Commissioner of Social Services shall ensure Connecticut's Medicaid program provides medically necessary and appropriate nonemergency medical transportation upon beneficiary request

When negotiating transportation brokerage contracts, the commissioner must consider recommendations from a 2020 state audit, including requiring contractors to immediately remove unsafe drivers, maintain adequate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, accurately report on-time transportation statistics, and promptly investigate complaints

Commissioner shall evaluate administrative burdens on Medicaid beneficiaries and healthcare providers and reduce the number of medical necessity forms required to obtain nonemergency medical transportation, to the extent permitted under federal law
