Persons 65 years of age and over who have been Connecticut residents for at least one year may obtain bow and arrow permits to hunt deer and small game without paying a fee.

Bow and arrow permit fees remain $41 for residents, $135 for nonresidents, and $19 for persons 12-15 years of age, except active full-time military members who are nonresidents pay the resident rate.

All bow and arrow permit applicants must have successfully completed a conservation education bow hunting course as specified in state statute or an equivalent course in another state, effective January 1, 2002.

The Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection issues permits only to qualified applicants using forms that require applicants to declare under penalty of false statement that all information provided is true and accurate.

The bill becomes effective October 1, 2020, and amends Connecticut General Statutes Section 26-86c.
