Raised Bill No. 189 - First Responder Affordable Housing

• Permits municipalities to provide or set aside affordable housing for active members of volunteer fire companies or departments engaged in volunteer fire duties.

• Permits municipalities to provide or set aside affordable housing for active volunteer ambulance service members certified in accordance with state statute.

• Allows each municipality to independently determine eligibility requirements and rental rates for first responder housing units.

• Effective upon passage with no sunset date specified.
