SB 309 Summary

• Adds tuition waiver eligibility for dependent children and surviving spouses of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for service-connected injuries.

• Applies the waiver to three Connecticut public higher education systems: regional community-technical colleges, Connecticut State University System, and University of Connecticut.

• Limits waivers to tuition exceeding any assistance received through the federal Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program.

• Reduces waivers by the amount of any educational reimbursement received from an employer.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2020.
