Hospital personnel shall promptly ask patients upon admission whether they desire notification of their physician and any family member of the hospital admission.

Hospitals must make reasonable efforts to notify the patient's designated physician and family member as soon as practicable, but not later than 24 hours after the patient's request.

"Hospital" is defined by reference to section 19a-490 and "physician" means a person licensed under chapter 370.

The act becomes effective October 1, 2020 and amends Connecticut General Statutes section 19a-508a.
