Board of Regents for Higher Education and Board of Trustees for University of Connecticut shall develop guidelines by July 1, 2016 for awarding college credit for military training, coursework, and education in consultation with state higher education institutions.

Guidelines shall include course equivalency recommendations from the American Council on Education or other reputable institutions or organizations.

Until guidelines are adopted, institutions may use American Council on Education recommendations, portfolio assessment, or their own transfer and articulation policies when awarding credit for military occupations.

Each institution's governing body must develop and implement policies for awarding military training credits upon adoption of state guidelines.

Institutions must review and update military credit policies by January 1, 2022, and every five years thereafter.
