Allows certified nurse's aides employed at assisted living facilities and privately hired certified home health aides to order and perform clean catch urine specimens, urinalysis, and culture and sensitivity tests when residents present with urinary tract infection symptoms and a prescribing provider is unavailable.

Permits these aides to administer the first dose of appropriate urinary tract infection treatment until a licensed or certified healthcare provider can provide follow-up treatment.

Requires prior written permission from the resident or the resident's legal representative before administering the first dose of treatment.

Requires a standing order issued by a licensed physician, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician assistant authorizing the aide to administer the first dose.

Aims to reduce unnecessary emergency department trips for elderly residents, decrease healthcare system burden, and lower treatment costs for this common but non-life-threatening condition.
