Amends section 10-183v of the general statutes to authorize the Teachers' Retirement Board to grant waivers from salary limitations for retired teachers who are rehired during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Allows retired teachers receiving retirement benefits to earn more than 45 percent of the maximum salary level for their assigned position when rehired.

Waivers apply during declarations of a public health or civil preparedness emergency relating to COVID-19 by the Governor, or for school years commencing July 1, 2021, and July 1, 2022, whichever period is longer.

Addresses teacher shortage challenges in specific subject areas resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling retired teachers to return at higher compensation levels.
