Requires each hospital with surgical services and each ambulatory surgical center to adopt and implement a policy requiring elimination of surgical smoke using a surgical smoke evacuation system during procedures likely to generate surgical smoke.

Implementation deadline is January 1, 2023.

Aims to protect surgeons, operating room personnel, and patients from the dangers of surgical smoke.
