Public Act No. 21-153 Summary

• Repeals and replaces Section 4-68bb of the general statutes to establish a comprehensive community-based initiative designed to reduce gun violence in Connecticut cities.

• Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management shall provide planning and management assistance to New Haven and apply for federal funds to support continued implementation of Project Longevity Initiative in New Haven.

• Expands Project Longevity Initiative to Hartford, Bridgeport, and Waterbury, with implementation coordinated by federal and state officials, mayors, clergy members, nonprofit providers, and community leaders in consultation.

• Secretary shall provide planning and management assistance and apply for federal funds to support implementation of Project Longevity Initiative in Hartford, Bridgeport, and Waterbury.

• Secretary must create and submit by February 1, 2022, a state-wide implementation plan to the joint standing committee on public safety and security that includes providing clients access to educational courses and apprentice programs through colleges, universities, community colleges, and the Technical Education and Career System.
