HB 6207 Summary

• Requires municipalities to propose polling place relocations at a regular legislative body meeting no later than 120 days before an election or primary.

• Mandates a public hearing on any proposed polling place move no later than 110 days before the election or primary, with final approval or disapproval by the legislative body no later than 100 days before.

• Transfers polling place designation authority from registrars of voters to the legislative body, making the legislative body responsible for approving location changes.

• Maintains existing prohibition on changing polling places within 31 days of an election except when a polling place is rendered unusable and unanimously agreed to by the municipal clerk and registrars.

• Effective July 1, 2021; amends Connecticut General Statutes sections 9-168, 9-168a, 9-168b, and 9-169.
