Commissioner of Social Services must amend the Medicaid state plan to include services provided by certified dietitian-nutritionists as an optional service under the Medicaid program by October 1, 2021.

Services must be provided by dietitian-nutritionists certified pursuant to section 20-206n.

The bill supersedes existing regulations of Connecticut state agencies concerning these optional services.

Commissioner may implement necessary policies to provide Medicaid coverage while regulations are being formally adopted, with notice posted on the eRegulations System.

Legislation takes effect July 1, 2021 and aims to help Medicaid beneficiaries avoid the consequences of malnutrition through access to certified dietitian-nutritionist services.
