Public agencies are prohibited from disclosing residential addresses of specified employees under the Freedom of Information Act, effective October 1, 2021.

Protected employees include federal judges, state court judges, family support magistrates, and municipal and state law enforcement officers.

Protection extends to Department of Correction employees, prosecutors, public defenders, criminal justice inspectors, firefighters, and judicial branch staff.

Additional protected categories include Department of Children and Families employees, Board of Pardons and Paroles members, mental health direct care providers, human rights commissioners, and Attorney General office staff.

The prohibition applies to personnel, medical, or similar files maintained by public agencies.
