Licensed pharmacists may administer influenza vaccine to persons aged 12-17 with parental or guardian consent beginning July 1, 2022, pursuant to a licensed health care provider's order.

Pharmacists may continue administering any FDA-approved vaccine listed on the CDC's Adult Immunization Schedule to adults aged 18 and older.

The Commissioner of Consumer Protection, in consultation with the Commissioners of Public Health and Pharmacy, must adopt regulations requiring pharmacists to complete an immunization training program covering pre-administration screening, vaccine storage and handling, injection techniques, recordkeeping, vaccine safety, CPR, and adverse event reporting.

Qualifying training programs must be accredited by the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, or other appropriate national accrediting bodies.

The act becomes effective October 1, 2021, amending Connecticut General Statutes section 20-633.
