The Board of Trustees of The University of Connecticut and the Board of Regents for Higher Education must each conduct a study on workforce development issues at public institutions of higher education related to the insurance industry, in consultation with state insurance industry employers.

The study shall analyze job opportunities in the insurance industry and required skills, audit existing courses and programs teaching insurance-related skills or knowledge, review job placement rates of students completing such programs, and recommend new or modified programs to fill industry job opportunities.

Both boards must submit a report on the study results to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of higher education matters no later than January 1, 2022.

The act takes effect upon passage.
