Amends section 10-221 of the general statutes to prohibit local and regional boards of education from developing, adopting, or implementing policies that discriminate against students based on natural hair, hair texture, or hairstyle.

Protects students from being denied equal opportunity to participate in school activities, programs, and courses of study based on their hair characteristics.

Specifically identifies braids, dreadlocks, and twists as protected hairstyles that cannot be subject to discriminatory school policies.

Referred to the Committee on Education and introduced by Senator Anwar of the 3rd District during the January 2021 session.
