Local and regional boards of education must maintain HVAC systems in accordance with ASHRAE Standard 62 and operate them continuously during school activity hours, with schools required to close for the day if Standard 62 cannot be maintained for two or more consecutive hours.

School gymnasiums must be maintained between 65-85 degrees Fahrenheit while in use by students, with closure required if temperature standards cannot be met for two or more consecutive hours.

Department of Public Health must establish a routine indoor air quality monitoring program by June 30, 2022, which all school districts must implement by June 30, 2023, with triennial program reviews beginning June 30, 2025.

By December 31, 2021, superintendents must designate an individual to receive indoor air quality complaints (including mold, pest infestation, or hazardous odors) and establish a public complaint procedure on the district website.

All local and regional boards of education must participate in the EPA's Air Quality Flag Program by June 30, 2022, and may only contract with Department of Public Health-certified contractors for indoor air quality services after June 30, 2023.
