SB 883 Summary

• Defines "child care services" as care for children under 13 years old that candidates require due to campaign activities, effective July 1, 2021.

• Permits campaign committees to spend funds on child care services up to the amount of qualifying contributions allowed, with regulations adopted by the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

• Allows candidates to use personal funds for child care services without counting toward personal fund limits for campaign participation.

• Requires appointing authorities to make good faith efforts to ensure state appointive boards and commissions reflect the gender and racial diversity of Connecticut by January 1, 2026.

• Directs the Secretary of the State to publish biennial reports on the gender and racial composition of state boards and commissions starting January 1, 2022.
