Department of Education shall develop uniform standards for virtual learning by July 1, 2021, requiring alignment with state curriculum guidelines, content standards, and rigorous instruction.

School districts that implement virtual learning during weather cancellations or other closures must develop a plan for how and when virtual learning will be provided.

Department shall conduct a comprehensive audit of virtual learning provided during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years due to COVID-19 and submit findings and recommendations to the legislature by February 1, 2022.

Virtual learning is considered an actual school session for meeting the 180-day school year requirement and satisfies instructional hour requirements for all grade levels.

All certified educators must receive training in virtual learning provision as part of professional development programs, and the State Board of Education must update absence definitions to address virtual learning by July 1, 2021.
