Police Officer Standards and Training Council must develop a model social media policy for law enforcement units and officers by January 1, 2022.

Model policy must include guidelines for social media account use, content management responsibilities, procedures for unauthorized access, compliance with state and federal law, appropriate content standards, and methods to limit indecent or obscene content.

Each law enforcement unit must adopt and maintain a written policy meeting or exceeding the model policy standards by July 1, 2022.

Act takes effect upon passage.
