Establishes a task force to study the edTPA (preservice performance assessment) adopted by the State Board of Education on December 7, 2016, for teacher preparation programs.

Task force shall examine positive and negative qualities of edTPA, implementation in state programs, financial costs to higher education institutions and students, feasibility of reducing costs or fees, use of edTPA by other states, and feasibility of designing a new state-wide assessment to replace edTPA.

Task force composition includes six members: two appointed by House Education Committee chairperson (at least one current teacher prep student), two by Senate Education Committee chairperson (at least one current teacher prep student), one by House ranking member, one by Senate ranking member, and the Commissioner of Education or designee.

First meeting must be held within sixty days of the effective date; all initial appointments must be made within thirty days of the effective date.

Task force must submit report with findings and recommendations to the joint standing education committee by January 1, 2022, and shall terminate upon submission of report or January 1, 2022, whichever is later.
