Creates a new criminal offense of "assault of a sports official" effective October 1, 2021, applying to amateur sporting or athletic events.

Defines "sports official" as any person who officiates or enforces rules at an amateur sporting event, including umpires, referees, judges, timekeepers, and scorers.

Makes it illegal to cause physical injury to a sports official with intent to intimidate, harass, or retaliate against them on account of their official duties.

Classifies assault of a sports official as a class C felony.
