Part-time professional employees of Connecticut's public higher education system may elect to participate in the state's group hospitalization and medical and surgical insurance plan, with employees paying their elected coverage premium.

The Comptroller must include part-time faculty from the Connecticut State University System in the group insurance plan if they elect participation and have taught at least 90 credit hours in aggregate during the preceding 10 academic years.

The state shall pay the portion of premiums for eligible employees on the same terms and conditions offered to part-time faculty who teach 9 or more credit hours per semester.

The act becomes effective July 1, 2022, and amends Section 5-259c of the general statutes.
