Department of Education administers a grant program for local and regional school boards to fund therapeutic day schools and programs providing special education and related services, effective July 1, 2022.

School boards with written contracts for therapeutic day school services may apply for grants that cover tuition and service costs, with grant amounts paid in the same fiscal year services are provided.

Boards must refund the department any unexpended grant amounts at fiscal year close and any amounts not spent according to the written contract with the therapeutic day school.

School boards receiving grants cannot claim reimbursement under section 10-76g of the general statutes for special education or related service costs paid with grant funds.

Department of Education may accept funding from private sources, state agencies, gifts, grants, and donations, including in-kind donations, to support the grant program.
