Requires all local and regional boards of education to include Asian American and Pacific Islander studies as part of the social studies curriculum beginning with the school year commencing July 1, 2025.

Curriculum must include focus on the history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the state, region, and United States, and their contributions to civil rights, government, arts, humanities, sciences, and economic and cultural development.

Boards of education may utilize curriculum materials provided by the State Board of Education or other existing public or private materials, provided they align with state-wide subject matter content standards.

Local and regional boards of education may accept gifts, grants, and donations, including in-kind donations, to support development and implementation of the Asian American and Pacific Islander studies curriculum.

Section 1 amends general statute section 10-16b effective July 1, 2025; Section 2 takes effect July 1, 2022.
