Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Correction, shall conduct a study on how Unified School District #1 is funded and compare it to other school districts and education programs in the state.

Study must examine the average cost per pupil for students in Unified School District #1 and the amount of state funding received per pupil for those students.

Study must compare per pupil costs and per pupil funding in Unified School District #1 with other school districts and education programs throughout the state.

Department must submit a report on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of education, appropriations, and state agency budgets by January 1, 2023.

Bill takes effect upon passage.
